ESG Consulting
ESG investing is an approach to managing assets where investors explicitly acknowledge the relevance of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors in their investment decisions as well as their own roles as owners and creditors, with the long-term return of an investment portfolio in mind. It aims to correctly price social, environmental and economic risks and opportunities.
In terms of rules 399 to 404 of the ZSE Listing Rules (SI 134 of 2019) every issuer is required to disclose on sustainability issues in the Chairman’s statement including mitigation of risks, sustainability performance data and other material information which deepens stakeholders’ understanding of corporate performance.
Considering the forgoing provision the ZSE issued practice Note 16 which now makes it mandatory for all issuers to adopt sustainability reporting effective from the financial period commencing 1 January 2024. The ZSE adopted the Global Reporting Initiatives (“GRI”) Standards and IFRS Sustainability Standards as core sustainability disclosure metrics for adoption as a minimum starting point by issuers.
